What link might there be between on the one hand the current directive put forward by the Council concerning the extension of Patents Law to include works of the mind, and on the other, the independant stand of the European Union in the sector of digital economy and new technologies ?
Is it a purely esoteric relationship, or on the contrary, is this directive not the dark vector of the conquering strategy of important powers outside the Union ?

As  members of the Board of Directors of the Hasgard Research Unit for systems and networks, we already feel the effects produced on our clients due to anticipation of the possible adoption by our members of parliament of the current Directive.

The proposed extension of Patents Law incites our clients to demand a thorough analysis of all the source codes for the products we offer. For a small organisation, this implies irrational costs and threatens our activity.

We therefore request that our MEPs radically refuse the Council's proposal. However, we urge them to confirm the text they had adopted on first reading.
